Megève, the French Alpine resort, offers a range of glamorous hotels for winter skiing and summer stays.
The resort has regained its popularity as France's most fashionable ski destination, drawing Parisians and up to 40,000 moneyed tourists at the peak of the season. Its history goes back to the 1910s, when the Rothschild family developed it, and in the 1950s Brigitte Bardot and Jean Cocteau were among its visitors. Compared with Courchevel, it still feels low-key, and its 35 hotels include 13 five-star properties.
The Four Seasons Resort Megève received France's highest hotel distinction, the Palace label, in 2026. Its 55 rooms each have a mountain view and a balcony, and guests can reach the slopes directly from the hotel. Nearby, Les Fermes de Marie, a family-run property in the Sibuet family since 1989, offers cosy chalet rooms and a Lodge Park sister hotel with a safari-chic style and a larger spa. Rooms at the Four Seasons start from around £1,800 per night.
Other picks range from the Grand Hôtel du Soleil d'Or, the resort's oldest hotel (opened in 1901), to the Hôtel Saint-Georges, redesigned by Luke Edward Hall, and the small, spa-focused Zannier Le Chalet. Flocons de Sel, a three-Michelin-star restaurant since 2012, also has ten rooms and mazots, a traditional small Savoy chalet.
